Vintage "Strasser" S.M.L Bb Clarinet; serial #C124

Founded back in the thirties, the three-way partnership is today owned by others.  But for nearly three-quarter of a century they produced high-quality woodwinds, including clarinets and saxophones. As I've been told, the firm is still producing oboes of top-top-quality. I've visited their shop in Paris a couple of times, but it's been years ago.

The best woodwinds were marked, are still marked "Marigaux".  The "Strasser" name was found on the mid-range clarinets.

We do see these once in a while, can attest to the fact that they perform very much like a 1970's Buffet R-13.  See my photos, plse....with an ink-stripe on the mouthpiece arbor that I use to measure bore sizes on clarinets.  Our "SML" clarinet is exactly the same bore size as a modern R-13.

The example we've posted today is perfect, looks and plays like a new one..  We've fitted it with all new pads and corks and have found it to play very well indeed. This one actually would find itself well suited to any serious ensemble, band, orchestra or solo work.

All wood, no cracks, looks and plays like a new one and made in Paris.

Set includes: case, mouthpiece
