Used C.G Conn 8D Double French Horn in Nickel-Silver (Elkhart); serial #N42152
The Conn 8D French horn was borne out of the collaboration between powerhouse horn-playing brothers Arthur, Jack, and Harry Berv and the innovative engineers at C.G. Conn, Ltd. Introduced in 1938, the Conn 8D cemented the tradition of large bell, all nickel silver, Kruspe-wrap French horns in the United States. Quickly becoming the instrument of choice for the Cleveland Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic, the sound of the Conn 8D has also been heard by billions of people worldwide in Hollywood film scores.
This horn was manufactured by C.G Conn in Elkhart,IN in 1970.
The valves are this horn are still very tight and are in great condition.
Please make a note of the mouthpipe: cosmetically we should replace the mouthpipe because of the dings; but we do not think it is necessary for the play ability of the horn. We wanted to keep this horn as original as possible.
This horn has been re lacquered at some point (not by us);please also note that this horn has been played quite a bit and there are etch marks in the metal.
This horn plays very well despite a few cosmetic flaws; a dark and full sound that is perfect for Conn 8D enthusiasts.
