Rare cocuswood flute from the Paris workshop of Frederic Eleanor Godfroy, all original.
Our guess is that it was made between 1860 and 1880.
Sounding length, head pushed in, all the way : 543 mm.
Embouchure is original, 9.9 mm X 11.5 mm.
Five keys, original, no hallmarks, no maker's stamp.
No cracks or damage.
The instrument plays well at 438, with the head pushed fully in.
The instrument is in original condition, has not been altered or cut shorter.
We give this one a “9.9 out of 10.0” rating.
*** Really nice example, looks like it's never been played. Tuned to "almost 440, more likely a hair below".
**** SOLD WITH CASE, all original.
The flute is part of a small collection of French instruments that I've acquired over the years, which means I may offer to sell a few more in the upcoming months.
