New Alexander model 155 F Tuba in Gold Brass, Lacquered
Musical instruments from Gebr. Alexander have a characteristic sound that the trained ear can distinguish from the multitude of different instruments - the Alexander sound. The balanced, harmonious tone of their instruments have become the standard for many brass musicians. Alexander's seventh generation of master craftsmen have been working on perfecting the sound, the playability of their musical instruments and on the manual production in their manufactory in Mainz since 1782.
We at Wichita Band are proud to have sold many of Alexander's instruments to advanced and professional musicians alike. They are, in our opinion, one of top makers of brass instruments in the world.

New Alexander model 155 F Tuba in Gold Brass, Lacquered, Nickel-Silver Garland
*** LONG STORY...
Due to the simple fact the demand for Alexander French horns has been so strong, only a few tubas have, in recent years, been produced.
We have a special relationship with Alexander, have had for nearly forty years. That means the "normal" time of delivery on horns is eight months. But...we've scheduled a shipment each month, between now and forever. That means, unless the horn order is for something quitespecial special, we can supply the order in only a few days.
Alexander tells us they've added several brass-builders a few years ago and that means they've new plans to increase low brass production.
We've recently been shipped three tubas, one in C, another in Bb and one in F. Our agreement with our friends in Mainz is to always have several tubas in our shop, for folks to come to Wichita (close to everywhere!) play-test our in-stock tubas and, provided they're pleased with the new models, place an order.
But it's a bit complicated from here. If we sell one of our in-stock instruments, we won't have that particular model available for people to try.
The solution is for us to schedule tubas, exactly like we do horns. Specifically... If the musician wants to buy a 164 that's the same (or similar) to one we have in stock and if Alexander can supply quickly (possible, possible), then we can immediately release one of our in-stock instruments for immediate sale.
Or we can place a new order with Mainz for a tuba similar to what we have and work with our friends at Alexander to work together for a faster delivery time.
Which means....we'll always have a small selection of Alex tubas in Wichita, perhaps for immediate delivery, perhaps for fast delivery from Mainz.
That also means we'll never have "empty tuba shelve" and WILL have several instruments available for in-house try-out and for the MID-WEST in December, in Chicago.
**** BOTTOM LINE. The F-tuba I've posted this morning IS AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT.
