Please deduct $485.00 from the above prices.;

Paxman horns are manufactured with four bell sections:
"M" bells are more popular in France and England, are rarely see in the states.
"L" bells are the best received by our customers.  The "L" underwent minor modifications about a dozen years ago, the results very well received by players all over the world.
"E" bells are halfway in size between the "M" and the "L".  Some Americans, many British players prefer this bell.
"A" bells are based on the Conn Elkhart 8D instruments (which were, in turn, copies of the pre-war Kruspe "Horner" model instruments).  Players who prefer the playing characteristics of Elkhart or Kruspe horns will like this option.
"XL" bells were discontinued about 15 years ago.

The bore size of all model 20 horns is the same at .472 inches. "Dual Bore" model 25 horns are built with the Bb side of the horn at .472 inches and the F side at .500. Differences in playing characteristics are determined by the metal alloy, the size of the bore diameter, and which bell section is selected.  Back to the Top

Wichita Band Instrument Company’s warranty is the same as it’s been for more than three decades.

“ALL new and all used instruments sold by Wichita Band Instrument Company come with our 24 month service warranty.   It in addition to any factory guarantees.   For two full years, we will repair or replace (whichever in our estimation is the more advisable), pads, corks, springs or other parts required, at no charge to the customer.   The customer is responsible for shipping and insurance charges.  Cases and plating finishes are not covered by our service warranty but are sometimes covered by factory guarantees.    Our warranty does cover dent work, however.   If your brass instrument sustains dents and dings any time during the first two years, we remove those dents at no charge to the customer except for shipping and insurance costs.”

Wichita Band Instrument Company maintains a repair department capable of restoration work of the highest quality.   Even though repairs are essentially “free” for the first two years, after that period has expired, we remain at your service to maintain and repair your musical equipment forever.   It’s our “service after the sale” promise and has been since 1953!

In the event that a customer requires service under factory guarantees or Wichita Band’s service warranty, the item must be returned to us and not directly to the manufacturer.

SCHILKE CORNETS AND TRUMPETS
Chicago symphony trumpet player Renold Schilke worked with the Martin Band Instrument Company in the 1940’s. He was the designer of the “Committee” model that many pro players of the time used. Martin was acquired by the Richards Music Corporation in 1962 and finally by Wurlitzer Pianos. Production ceased in 1968.

A few trumpets bearing Renold Schilke’s name appeared in 1956, with larger production numbers by the early sixties. Wichita Band Instrument Company’s dealership dates from 1965. After Renold’s death in 1982, the firm continued under the ownership of the Schilke family. In late 2002, the workshop was acquired by Andrew Naumann. They currently have eighteen employees who produce only a limited number of hand-built trumpets and cornets each year.

Schilke instruments are sold without case and mouthpiece and are not available in lacquer finishes. The instruments are sold only in bright silver or bright gold plate.

These models are the most popular with Schilke:

P5-4, four-piston piccolo trumpet, bright silver, no case. $2875.

E3L, three-piston Eb-D trumpet, bright silver, no case. $2956.

E3L-4, four piston Eb-D trumpet, bright silver, no case. $2956.
